Description
Unbelievably a decade old, Alligator [2005] was the final punch for the National to break the glass ceiling of modern indie music, proving uptight critics wrong and certainly multiplying their fan base. Very much of the same post-puck revival scene as the Savages, Alligator is The National’s third studio album and to me, a far better introduction to these five Ohio indie contemporaries than their first two outings. Layered indefinitely with lulled vocals, triple tracked grand pianos and drumming anything but attention seeking, all combine to create an album which keeps giving after listening start to finish, over and over, without fail hearing something new every time you listen to it.
Everything we love about The National at its’ very finest.
